Story of Ramin Ataee, TVET successful case

Project Description

Ramin Ataee is one of the beneficiaries of the TVET project in 2022 (OSAA-016 project). His father’s name is Basir Ahmad. He lives in Islam Qala. His family is so poor and his father is jobless; only his brother works as a car repairman and pays some of the family’s expenses.

He used to sell peas on a carriage in Islam Qala Bazaar. His life became so difficult because he had to stay in the sun for more than 13 hours a day. It was so hard work and the benefit of this trade was so low. He could not continue his education, but he continued his Quran studies.

His life began to change after coming to the TVET project. He is familiar with a new vocation, plumbing. Now he can learn everything, both theoretical and practical, about plumbing, and after graduation he can have his own business and help his family. He is so glad to solve some of his family’s problems.

He learned a new and useful vocational skill which has so many demands in his district after he attended the TVET project. Besides the vocation, Ramin gets the amount of FFT for paying his family’s food payment. He got about 8000 AFN per month.

He learned lots of plumbing issues because beneficiaries study vocational skills theoretically and practically in this project. He says, “I am familiar with all the essential equipment for plumbing, such as water tanker, hand stone, toilet stone, and water heater installation. I can fasten all kinds of pipes. ” He continued, “Besides my vocation, I learned how to start a business. This information was obtained after attending the small business sessions.

His biggest challenge is having no specific space for doing his plumbing activities (shop or market). He wants to open a shop for himself, but he is afraid of the rent of the shop. Therefore, he is looking for a supporter to cooperate with in opening the shop.

He said, “With the cooperation of OSAA and the Help organization, we could rescue people from poverty. These organizations help us to be independent and have a comfortable life. I am really thankful to these two organizations and their partners. “

Finally, he said that the opportunity to learn plumbing was the best event in his life. He loves working as a plumber because he thinks it is a secure working environment. To him, this means that he can control his future employment by working hard and being committed to doing his job. He thinks that every day is a new experience for him because he has to truly think through customers’ issues to find the best solutions.
