A successful case of “handicrafts” course
Ms. Zahra‘s story:
Ms. Zahra is originally from Gulran district of Herat. Due to years of war her family migrated to Iran and she was dislocated from her hometown. Years later they returned to their village but again fled to Herat 5 years ago with her family due to insecurity. His father died 13 years ago and for more than ten years her mother working as cleaner was the only bread winner of the 9 member family. The 21 years old Zahra says that her motivation in learning handicrafts vocation was her old mother who suffered a lot working at homes. She say “I wanted to earn enough money to stop my mother from service work and to help my brother who is working as a manual worker”.
In January 2018 she registered in handicrafts class of Isteqlal VTC where she graduated 6 months later as one of successful graduates. Receiving toolkits helped her start producing and selling handicrafts products she had learned during training. She started her micro business individually at home. Now she earns 5,000 to 6,000 Afghanis per month.
In Feb 2019, she shared her plan for developing her micro business with OSAA EESC. As an eligible support kit receiver she was identified and received tool kits. She appreciates OSAA, Help, WFP and other facilitator organizations that has trained and supported her a vocation so that she can earn money through it.
