Story of Mirwais, TVET successful case

Project Description

Mirwais was born in 2004 in the Injil district of Herat province. Unfortunately, his father died when he was 9 years old, and after that, his grandfather took charge of their family. Due to economic problems, his grandfather no longer cooperated with his family and he was forced to live an independent life. Anyway, after this, they had to rent a house for themselves. At that time, they didn’t even have a small household item, which means that they started life from hand-to-mouth. When his grandfather left them the responsibility of their life, at the beginning, it was very difficult for them. He did not have any income, and they were facing economic problems every day. He used to do hard work in a mechanics’ shop, and he earned 300 AFN a week until he got familiar with the work. From that day, he earned 500 AFN a week. Anyway, he used to cover their daily expenses from this low income. Since he was nine years old, he took the responsibility for all the problems in his family’s life with his mother. Anyway, his mother tried all the time to make sure her sons and daughter would not feel anything lacking in their lives.

Unfortunately, the economic and family problems that he had prevented him from continuing his education; he was not able to continue his education, and this is the reason that he stayed away from his dream.

As he said: “I always looked at the children, who all had fathers, and helped them. I was deprived of a father’s love, and I saw myself alone and without any support. In fact, it was very difficult and shocked me all the time. It’s a very important point to remember. Since I was a child, I dreamed of standing on my own feet and being a servant to my family. “

Working in a mechanic’s shop was very hard for him, and the salary was low, so he had to look for another job. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find one until he decided to buy an ice cream machine. During the summer season, the weather was also very hot, and he was selling ice cream in Herat city. Sometimes he was satisfied with the little benefit that he got, but he hardly earned money in difficult situations. One day, he was at Pol Hashmi Street when a man came to him and told him: “What are you doing, my dear? He told him: “I am selling ice cream. He asked him again: would you like to join a training program so you don’t sell ice cream on the road anymore and have a more comfortable life? He told him: “Yes, why not?” This is my great ambition. If you know about my life and my family, you know that we deal with many daily problems. I’d like to have an easier job like other children in society. I think this is my inalienable right to have a more comfortable life like other children, and then he asked him more questions. After that, he gave him a card with the address on it and directed him to go to this address with your mother. After that, the relevant office referred him to the Ansari Vocational Training Centre, and after going through the process, he was selected for the vocational training program. Currently, he is proud of being a trainee in the LCD/LED repairing class at Ansari Vocational Training Centre.

Since the OSAA organization supported him and he joined their training program, he has seen many changes in his behavior, personality, and knowledge. He can help his family because from WFP he receives 8000 AFN per month and his daily transportation is paid by OSAA NGO on time. Anyway, his economic challenges have solved it. He said that I was learning more things from this centre. In addition, according to the vocational issues and professional training, he also learned how to set up small businesses. Mirwais and his classmates are making a small group with the help of each other and he is managing it. At first, they have started a Facebook page and telegram called (LCD Repairers”. They are coordinating and taking the internal orders from their customers and repairing them. So far, they have received five orders for LCD repair, and all five have been repaired, and they have received some money as a result. This small process has made him very happy and hopeful for the future. He said: “I will be happy if, after I graduate from this center, I can open a shop, start working and earn money this way and spend it with my family.”

He has a great ambition to continue his studies and become a professional teacher in his field in the future. He loved street children. He said, “If God gives me a chance and my economic situation improves, I will definitely help the street children and share all the educational experience that I have already learned. So I never want to see street children on the roads of our city in the future.

Finally, he stated, “I appreciate all of the staff of the OSAA organization, Help INGO, and our trainers who are attempting to teach us and help us become useful and effective people for ourselves and our families in the future.”
