Story of Malina Ghafoori, TVET successful case

Project Description

Malina Ghafoori, the daughter of Abdul Hamid, was born in DE Mir Sad Village of Pashtoon Zarghon in 2001. She lives in the Pashtoon Zarghon District right now. She completed 12 grades of school in the center of Pashtoon Zarghon School. She has a family of six members. Her father has been the head of the family. It means that only her father can earn money and pay their expenses. Her mother suffered from sickness and had lots of problems in her family.

Their way of life is so simple, and they are faced with a variety of financial problems. She says, “Before I attended to the Pashtoon Zarghon MVTC, I had a lot of problems. My life was so boring and my interest in being alive was decreasing day by day. But after I attended to this center, I felt alive. I am so interested in my life now because I have learned a new skill and want to increase it in my house. I can work and earn money. In this way, I can help my family, especially my mother, who is so sick.

The biggest challenges for her have been the financial situation and the local customs, which are against women’s employment. In her district, women should stay at home and they do not have permission to go out for work. All of the women there, including Malina, suffer from these customs. Therefore, she looked for a way that would obey the local customs and at the same time allow her to work and earn money.

Therefore, these financial problems were so much, but after coming to Pashtoon Zarghon MVTC, most of her problems were solved. Because in this program, her transportation fee is paid and a new vocational skill is taught to her. Besides these, FFT from WFB paid for them. In other words, her family’s food is ensured for this duration. So, she has peace of mind, and in this situation, she could learn a lot from this center.

She is familiar with models and kinds of clothes now. She can sew different clothes for herself and her family. Now she can tailor for her relatives and neighbors. In this way, she can earn money and help her family.

Because of this big change in her life, she appreciated OSAA, HELP INGO, and other partners. She says, “I had a very bad situation both financially and mentally. But after the opening of the Technical Vocational Centre in Pashtoon Zarghon by OSAA and donors (and other stakeholders), my financial and mental situation improved. Thanks a lot to the mentioned organizations that make this opportunity for me and support me and other women like me. “

She dreams of becoming a good tailoring trainer in the near future because she wants to transfer her knowledge of tailoring to others and have trainees. She said that her district will improve if the women have different vocations, such as tailoring.
