OSAA provided access to clean water for the EQ-affected people of Jar-e-Khushk Village through construction of one hand pump well
Jarkhoshak is a deprived, destroyed, needy, and out-of-sight village located among the towering mountains of the Injil district of Herat. This village is in great need, with more than 40 houses and a total population of more than 250 people. In addition to all the hardships, this village has also been affected by the devastating Herat earthquake. The people of this village are all natives of Herat; they have a low level of literacy, and the men of the houses do not have good jobs.
Fortunately, based on the humanitarian help and funds provided by the respected Ein Herz for Afghanistan e.v., we were able to dig one hand pump into a deep well. According to the surveys conducted during the earthquake and based on the severe needs of the people of Jar Khushk village, the OSAA team chose this village to dig this deep well.
The opening ceremony and operation of the deep hand well took place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in the village of Jar Khoshk. In this ceremony, the leadership board and employees of OSAA, local people, and a representative of the handover of public benefit projects were present.
First of all, Ms. Yaqoubi, the Director of OSAA, felt happy about the operation of a deep well in the deprived village of Jar Khokh; she also emphasized the continuation of the process of providing aid to the deprived areas.
Abdul Ghafoor Qaderi, a community elder of the village, also expressed his gratitude to the organizations Ein Herz für Afghanistan e.v. and OSAA. He added that water is the source of life, and people were suffering from the lack of healthy and good water in this area. He also said that drinking water is one of the major challenges; the lack of good and solid shelters; poverty; and the lack of educational conditions for overweight children are among the important issues that the people of this village need, and hopefully the water problem is already solved with the completion of this project.
Maryam, a small girl and a resident of the same village, felt happy that she could easily get water by herself using the prepared pump and drink it or take it to her family. She added that after the earthquakes, they suffered from having no access to clean water and nowadays they are happy to Also, Zari Gul, a grandmother and supporter of a family, expressed her gratitude and said that she can feel the good taste of sweet water, and she is feeling comfort while seeing that there are some organizations like Ein Herz for Afghanistan e.v. and OSAA that think of the very deprived areas like Jarkhoshk. She was hoping for other developmental projects in her village as well.
After the ceremony, the water pump was handed over to the local people in the presence of officials.
