On Jan 2021 OSAA- (Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan) signed a SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR PROVIDING VOCATIONAL TRAINING SERVICES, with World Vision Afghanistan. Based on this agreement OSAA trained 450 beneficiaries from World Vision Projects in different vocations in Herat- Afghanistan.

The project’s main objectives are as follows:

Objective 1:  450 most deprived family members- including at least 70% female – of 16 or above years of age will have access to quality vocational training in marketable skills.

Objective 2: The successful graduates of TVET/VST will be assisted to find their appropriate working environment through the Employment and Entrepreneurship Services Center of OSAA.

The long-term targets of the project include:

  1. Sustainable integration of beneficiaries into the local communities;
  2. Encouraging beneficiaries to stay in their homeland rather than migrating abroad;
  3. Socio-economic improvement of beneficiaries;
  4. Contribute to the socio-economic development of the local communities and the country at large.

OSAA VTC Introduction:

OSAA VTC (Vocational Training Center) was located in District 2, Darb Qandahar of Herat city and the most important feature of this center was accessibility to the beneficiaries, that can come on time by using public transportation or by walking can be a kind of saving for those families to save their transportation payment.

Vocations:

  • Tailoring for female
  • Beauty Parlor for female
  • Carpet Weaving for female
  • Rug Weaving for female
  • House Wiring for male
  • Mobile Repairing for male
  • Handicrafts for female
  • Bag making for female

Literacy classes:

The OSAA program team considered literacy classes for both boys and girls, who were illiterate and were so interested to become literate, we sought and registered the illiterate beneficiaries for the literacy classes, and every day, every beneficiary participated in literacy class for 40 minutes, these classes have more effect on beneficiaries who could not write their name, so at the end of the project, they were able to read and write.

Small Business Training:

We had Small Business Training for all our Vocational Training Classes; every class has one session (90 minutes) of Small Business Training in a week, the result of this training for beneficiaries was when they graduate from vocational, they became familiar with Bazaar, business, customers, companies, products and so on and in the near future they can have an active play in the Bazaar and sell their products and services in the market.

Kindergarten and nursery:

The project was designed to have a kindergarten and nursery for babies and children, some of our beneficiaries in the vocational classes had problems with their babies maybe they don’t have anyone to keep their children at home when they participate in classes and this issue caused them to leave the classes, so we prepared the kindergarten and nursery for them to bring their children and avoid hesitate about them and continue their own vocations.

Finally, the project successfully completed in Herat province in November 2021 and after distributing the vocational toolkits, certificates, monthly transportation fees and holding the graduation ceremony, the project ended.
