In a significant stride towards empowering vulnerable youths including men and women, the Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan (OSAA) has successfully concluded its “Six-Month Vocational and Professional Training Project”. The project launched in November 2022 and wrapping up in July 2024. This initiative has made a profound impact on 100 young individuals across the districts of Karukh, Obeh, the Girls’ Orphanage, and the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center (JRC) in Herat Province.
The program, funded by the HELP Organization and the LINSI Foundation, was designed to provide essential vocational skills and job placement support to some of the most at-risk youth in the region. OSAA’s comprehensive approach combined hands-on training with additional support services to ensure lasting success for its beneficiaries.
Key Achievements:
Vocational Training: Participants received expert training in high-demand professions, equipping them with the skills needed for lucrative careers.
Supportive Services: Beyond vocational training, the program included literacy and life skills education, business management training, and monthly food packages.
Inclusive Training: Special provisions were made to include beneficiaries with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to vocational training.
The program’s benefits extend beyond the 100 direct participants to their families and broader communities. With around 100 households and approximately 600 individuals indirectly impacted, the initiative has fostered widespread positive change. As OSAA celebrates the successful completion of this project, the organization remains committed to continuing its mission of empowering women and youth through targeted vocational training and support. The success of this program underscores OSAA’s dedication to creating sustainable opportunities and enhancing the economic prospects of vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.
